Meet fellow enthusiasts, enjoy friendly matches, and improve your strategy in a relaxed setting. Drop in anytime; no registration needed. We meet in the Genealogy Room in Adult Services. The Cape Girardeau Municipal Band performs each Wednesday evening in June and July. Guest artists perform at 7 PM. The Muny Band performs at 7:30 PM.

The free concerts take place each Wednesday evening at the Dan Cotner Amphitheater in Capaha Park. Be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs.

Join fellow American Mahjong enthusiasts for a fun and friendly game session! This event is for players who already know the rules and want to enjoy some lively rounds together. If you have your own mahjong set, please bring it along—our library has only two sets available. Feel free to bring your favorite snack or drink to enjoy while you play. No registration needed—just drop in and join the fun! (ages 18+)

UWSEMO is hosting an after-hours event for young professionals on Thursday, July 30.

Come engage with local professionals who want to make a difference and discover how your skills and experience can support a nonprofit mission as a board or committee member. Meet our funded partners needing volunteers and connect with a cause you care about!

The Jackson Municipal Band’s next concert will be July 30 with special guest Whitewater Bluegrass Band.

The free concert will take place Thursday, July 30, at 7:00 p.m. at the Nick Leist Memorial Band Shell in Jackson city park. Be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs.

Directions: Entrance to the band shell parking lot is off of Route D across from McCombs Funeral Home.

The Cape Riverfront Market takes place each Saturday morning through October from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 35 S. Spanish Street in Downtown Cape Girardeau.

Patrons of the farmers’ market can find a wide variety of vendors selling hot breakfast and lunch foods, farm-fresh produce, meats and cheeses, baked goods, jams, honey, flowers and plants, arts and crafts, and natural wellness products, all of which are locally grown, homemade, and handmade. Each week will feature live music, as well.

SEMO-Kennett will host a SEMO Summer Sendoff Small Business Celebration on Saturday, August 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to mark the end of summer, recognize small businesses and honor over 25 years of the SEMO-Kennett campus.

Enjoy lawn games, craft and food vendors. SEMO-Kennett will have an informational booth where attendees can meet the campus team, pick up an application, schedule a FAFSA appointment, or stop by for some SEMO swag. Shop small businesses, enjoy local refreshments and share your SEMO spirit at this free, family-friendly, fun-filled event. The sendoff will be in the SEMO-Kennett campus parking lot at 1230 First Street in Kennett, Missouri 63857. All are welcome!

The SEMO Alumni Association presents the Southeast Missouri Regional Jazz Orchestra for its annual concert on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Founded in 2000, the orchestra is comprised of area music educators, professional musicians, and talented high school and college students. This big band plays a wide variety of music including jazz standards, Latin favorites, rock 'n roll, and pop hits...something for all ages to enjoy.

The free Southeast Missouri Regional Jazz Orchestra concert will take place on Saturday, August 1, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wehking Alumni Center on the Campus of Southeast Missouri State University.

The SEMO Iris Society will host its annual sale of iris rhizomes on August 2.

Hundreds of varieties will be available. The sale generally concludes within an hour and will be followed by an auction of newer varieties.

The sale and auction will take place on Sunday, August 2, from 12-3 p.m. at the MU Cape County Extension Center in Jackson.

Join The Page Turners, our lively adult popular fiction book club! This month, we’re diving into "To the Moon and Back" by Eliana Ramage. New participants are encouraged to register and include your email to receive updates and an invite to our Facebook group. Feel free to bring a snack to enjoy during the discussion.
